Description

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Topping:

  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt, optional, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup softened butter. Press evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Add Pecans: Sprinkle chopped pecans over the crust.
  4. Make the Caramel: In a saucepan, melt 1 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar. Boil for 2-3 minutes, then pour over the pecans and crust.
  5. Bake: Bake for 18-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Add Chocolate: Remove from the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top, let sit for a few minutes, then spread the melted chocolate.
  7. Cool and Serve: Optionally sprinkle with sea salt, cool completely, then chill before cutting into bars.
