For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the Topping:
- 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt, optional, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup softened butter. Press evenly into the prepared pan.
- Add Pecans: Sprinkle chopped pecans over the crust.
- Make the Caramel: In a saucepan, melt 1 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar. Boil for 2-3 minutes, then pour over the pecans and crust.
- Bake: Bake for 18-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Add Chocolate: Remove from the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top, let sit for a few minutes, then spread the melted chocolate.
- Cool and Serve: Optionally sprinkle with sea salt, cool completely, then chill before cutting into bars.
