  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef broth or water
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

Instructions

  1. Cook Meat: In a skillet, brown the ground beef and sausage. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; cook until softened.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Transfer meat mixture to the crockpot. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beans, broth, spices, and sugar. Mix well.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours.
