- 2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup beef broth or water
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
Instructions
- Cook Meat: In a skillet, brown the ground beef and sausage. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; cook until softened.
- Combine Ingredients: Transfer meat mixture to the crockpot. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beans, broth, spices, and sugar. Mix well.
- Cook: Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
