Description

Sweet Cherry Pie Bars are a delightful dessert that combines a buttery, almond-scented crust with a luscious cherry filling. These bars are perfect for summer baking or anytime you crave a fruity treat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar (divided)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Filling and Glaze:

  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Make the dough: Cream butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar, add eggs, extracts, then mix in flour and salt to form a dough.
  3. Assemble the bars: Spread most of the dough in the pan, top with cherry filling, drop spoonfuls of remaining dough, sprinkle with sugar.
  4. Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden.
  5. Glaze and serve: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, then drizzle over cooled bars.

Notes

  • You can use homemade cherry filling or try blueberry or apple pie filling as alternatives.
  • Bars can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
