Description

For the Sloppy Joe:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook beef: Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5 to 6 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add vegetables: Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until softened.
  4. Combine sauce: Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
