For the Sloppy Joe:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
Instructions
- Heat olive oil: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook beef: Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5 to 6 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add vegetables: Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until softened.
- Combine sauce: Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer: Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Spoon the mixture onto toasted hamburger buns and serve warm.
