Description

These Six Minute Caramels are a quick and easy treat to satisfy your sweet tooth. Made in the microwave, these soft caramels are rich, buttery, and perfect for gifting or enjoying yourself. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt for a gourmet touch.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • flaky sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and sweetened condensed milk. Microwave on high for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes, making sure the mixture is fully blended and bubbling. Use a larger bowl than you think you’ll need to prevent overflow.
  2. After 6 minutes, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave (it will be hot) and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the hot caramel mixture into a parchment-lined 8×8-inch baking dish. Let cool at room temperature for 1–2 hours, or until fully set. Once cooled, cut into squares and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired. Wrap individual pieces in wax paper for easy storage.
