Description

These Sausage, Rotel & Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls are a delicious and easy appetizer or snack perfect for any occasion. Flaky crescent roll dough is filled with a savory mixture of breakfast sausage, creamy Rotel tomatoes with green chilies, and smooth cream cheese, then baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Crescent Roll Dough:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Sausage Mixture:

  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1/2 cup Rotel tomatoes with green chilies (drained well)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat. Add the drained Rotel and cook for 1–2 more minutes to remove excess moisture.
  3. Prepare Filling: Remove from heat and stir in the cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and optional cheddar cheese until fully combined. Let cool slightly.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the sausage mixture onto the wide end of each triangle. Roll up the dough, starting at the wide end and rolling toward the point, enclosing the filling.
  5. Bake: Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–14 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For easier filling, chill the sausage mixture briefly before rolling.
  • You can double the recipe and freeze unbaked rolls for later—bake straight from frozen, adding 2–3 minutes to the cook time.
