For the Oat Base:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cups old-fashioned oats
For the Fudge Layer:
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare Oat Base: Cream together butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; mix into wet ingredients. Stir in oats. Press two-thirds into pan.
- Make Fudge Layer: In a saucepan, melt condensed milk, chocolate chips, butter, and salt. Remove from heat; add vanilla and walnuts. Pour over oat base.
- Finish and Bake: Drop spoonfuls of remaining oat mixture on top. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden. Cool before slicing.

- Bars can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
