Cake:
- 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Mix cake batter: In a large bowl, combine cake mix, sour cream, eggs, oil, and water. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Prepare cinnamon-sugar: In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nuts if using.
- Layer batter: Pour half of the batter into the pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture, add remaining batter, and top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan.
- Make glaze: Whisk powdered sugar and milk, drizzle over cooled cake.

- Enhance the cinnamon layer with a pinch of nutmeg.
