Cake:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water

Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix cake batter: In a large bowl, combine cake mix, sour cream, eggs, oil, and water. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Prepare cinnamon-sugar: In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nuts if using.
  4. Layer batter: Pour half of the batter into the pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture, add remaining batter, and top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  5. Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan.
  6. Make glaze: Whisk powdered sugar and milk, drizzle over cooled cake.
