Description

Indulge in the decadent layers of chocolate and cream with this classic Mississippi Mud Pie recipe. A perfect combination of a crunchy cookie crust, rich chocolate filling, creamy ice cream, and velvety whipped cream, topped with a luscious chocolate drizzle. This dessert is a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 ½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 pint chocolate ice cream, softened
  • 1 cup whipped cream (for topping)
  • ¼ cup chocolate syrup (for drizzle)
  • Optional: shaved chocolate or extra chopped pecans for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine chocolate cookie crumbs, melted butter, and pecans. Press into a pie dish and bake for 8–10 minutes. Let cool.
  2. Make the Filling: Cream softened butter and sugar. Add melted chocolate, eggs, and vanilla. Pour over crust and freeze for 20 minutes.
  3. Add the Ice Cream: Spread softened chocolate ice cream over the chocolate layer and freeze for at least 2 hours.
  4. Whip the Cream: Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and cocoa powder until stiff peaks form. Spread over the pie.
  5. Final Touches: Drizzle with chocolate syrup and garnish with shaved chocolate or chopped pecans. Freeze until ready to serve.
  6. Serve: Let the pie sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • You can substitute chocolate ice cream with coffee or mocha for a different flavor.
  • For a no-bake version, skip baking the crust and use a pre-made cookie crust instead.
