Description

These Meatball Sub Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer perfect for parties or game day gatherings. Flaky crescent roll dough cups filled with marinara sauce, meatballs, and gooey cheese are baked until golden and bubbly. A sprinkle of Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and fresh parsley adds the finishing touch to these flavorful bites.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 12 frozen or homemade fully cooked meatballs
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce, plus more for dipping
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • nonstick cooking spray or oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a mini muffin tin.
  2. Prepare the dough: Roll out the crescent dough and separate it into 12 even squares or rounds. Press each piece into a muffin cup, gently shaping the dough to fit.
  3. Add toppings: Place 1 teaspoon of marinara sauce in the bottom of each dough cup, followed by a meatball. Top each meatball with a little more marinara and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  4. Bake: Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Finish and serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and chopped parsley if using. Let cool slightly before serving with extra marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

Notes:

  • You can use homemade meatballs or thawed frozen ones, just make sure they are fully cooked before baking.
  • Add crushed red pepper for a spicy kick, or use provolone for a cheesier bite.
