Description

Pasta:

  • 2 cups small ring pasta (anelli)

Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Boil salted water and cook pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare Sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Finish Dish: Reduce heat, add milk, cheddar, and Parmesan. Stir until melted. Add pasta and coat in sauce. Serve warm.

  • For a classic canned-style flavor, use mild cheddar and add an extra teaspoon of sugar.
