Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Dough:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Additional Items:
- Extra sugar for sprinkling or dipping
- Melted chocolate for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and peanut butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Chill the dough for 15–20 minutes if needed.
- Shape the Cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and shape each into a heart. Place hearts on baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
- Bake: Bake for 9–11 minutes until lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Optionally, drizzle with melted chocolate.
Notes
- To shape the hearts evenly, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter or mold the dough inside one.
- For a festive touch, sprinkle with sanding sugar before baking or dip half of the cookie in chocolate after cooling.
