Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Cheese:
- 6 slices sandwich bread
- 6 slices cheddar cheese or preferred melting cheese
Other:
- 3 tablespoons softened butter
- Tomato soup or marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preparation: Lay out the bread slices and place a slice of cheese on each. Top with another slice of bread to make sandwiches. Trim crusts if desired and cut each sandwich into three equal strips.
- Cooking: Spread butter on both sides of each strip. Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Place the strips in the skillet and cook, turning often, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- Serving: Serve warm with tomato soup or marinara for dipping.
Notes
- For extra flavor, mix garlic powder or dried herbs into the butter before spreading.
- Use a blend of cheeses such as mozzarella and Gruyère for a richer taste.
- Bread can be flattened with a rolling pin for a more compact dipper.
