Description

A delicious Garlic Butter Grilled Steak & Shrimp recipe that combines tender, juicy ribeye or NY strip steaks with succulent grilled shrimp, all infused with a flavorful garlic butter sauce. Perfect for a summer grill-out or special dinner, this surf and turf dish is easy to prepare and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Shrimp

  • 2 ribeye or NY strip steaks (about 1 1/4 inches thick)
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Garlic Butter Mixture

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Seasonings and Garnish

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Season: Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 450°F/230°C). Pat steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and black pepper. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil to enhance flavor and prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, smoked paprika, and the remaining olive oil. Divide the mixture in half—reserve one half for basting while grilling and the other half for serving to drizzle over cooked steak and shrimp.
  3. Skewer Shrimp: Thread the peeled and deveined shrimp onto skewers for easy grilling, then brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture prepared for basting.
  4. Grill Steak and Shrimp: Place the steaks on the grill and cook for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your preferred level of doneness. In the last 2 minutes of grilling, add the shrimp skewers and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, brushing occasionally with the garlic butter, until shrimp are pink and opaque.
  5. Rest and Serve: Remove the steaks and shrimp from the grill. Let steaks rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute before slicing. Serve the steak and shrimp together, drizzled with the reserved garlic butter sauce and garnished with fresh parsley and lemon wedges for a bright finishing touch.

Notes

  • Use filet mignon or sirloin as alternatives to ribeye or NY strip steak for different textures and tastes.
  • For extra flavor, marinate the shrimp in the garlic butter mixture for 15 minutes prior to grilling.
  • This dish pairs perfectly with baked potatoes, corn on the cob, or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
  • Be careful not to overcook the shrimp as they can become rubbery quickly.
