Description

Celebrate Easter with this fun and festive Easter Bunny Spinach Dip, a creamy and flavorful appetizer featuring a blend of spinach, sour cream, mayonnaise, and crunchy water chestnuts. Served in a hollowed bread loaf shaped like a bunny, it’s perfect for holiday parties and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 1 package (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well-drained
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet (1 oz) dry vegetable soup mix
  • 1 can (8 oz) water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped

Serving Ingredients

  • 1 round bread loaf (sourdough or pumpernickel)
  • Assorted crackers and veggies for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spinach Dip: In a large bowl, mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise, dry vegetable soup mix, chopped water chestnuts, finely chopped green onions, and the thawed, well-drained chopped spinach until everything is well combined. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
  2. Hollow Out Bread Bowl: Cut the bread loaf in half horizontally. Carefully hollow out the bottom half of the bread to create a bowl for the dip. Tear the removed bread pieces into bite-sized chunks for dipping alongside crackers and veggies.
  3. Create Bunny Ears: From the top half of the bread loaf, cut out two ear shapes to resemble bunny ears. Attach these ears to the bread bowl using toothpicks or skewers to secure them in place. Optionally, decorate with small pieces of olives or vegetables to form the bunny’s eyes and nose.
  4. Assemble and Serve: Fill the hollowed bread bowl with the chilled spinach dip. Arrange the bread chunks, assorted crackers, and fresh veggies around the bunny bread bowl to create an inviting appetizer platter for your Easter celebration.

Notes

  • For a lighter and tangier version of the dip, substitute Greek yogurt in place of sour cream.
  • This festive spinach dip can be prepared a day in advance—just refrigerate it separately and fill the bread bowl right before serving to maintain freshness.
