Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons finely ground Earl Grey tea leaves (from about 4 tea bags)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Vanilla: Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ground Earl Grey tea leaves, and salt.
- Combine Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Shape and Chill: Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each into a log about 1.5 inches in diameter. Wrap each log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the chilled dough into 1/4-inch rounds and place them about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden.
- Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Notes:
- For extra flavor, drizzle cooled cookies with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and lemon juice.
- You can also dip half of each cookie in melted white chocolate for an elegant touch.
