Description

Delight your guests with these Crispy Fried Mushrooms served with a Cool Ranch Dip. Perfectly seasoned and fried to golden perfection, these mushrooms are a crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the mushrooms:

  • 1 pound button or cremini mushrooms (cleaned and stems trimmed)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

For the ranch dip:

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mushrooms: Place cleaned mushrooms in a bowl, pour buttermilk over them, toss to coat, and let soak for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Make the ranch dip: In a small bowl, stir together all dip ingredients until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Coat the mushrooms: In a shallow dish, whisk flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Fry the mushrooms: Heat oil to 350°F, dredge mushrooms in flour mixture, fry for 3–4 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Serve: Drain fried mushrooms on paper towels and serve hot with chilled ranch dip.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-dip the mushrooms: flour, buttermilk, then flour again.
  • You can swap sour cream with Greek yogurt for a lighter dip version.
  • Best served hot and crispy—avoid overcrowding the fryer for a crisp coating.
