Description

This hearty Cowboy Beans recipe is a flavorful blend of ground beef, bacon, three types of beans, and a savory-sweet sauce. Perfect as a side or main dish, it’s a comforting and satisfying meal that’s easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon (chopped)
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pork and beans (not drained)
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Bacon: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, keeping the bacon fat in the pan.
  2. Cook Beef: Add ground beef and onion to the pan. Cook until beef is browned, and onion is soft. Drain excess fat. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add Beans and Sauce: Add pinto beans, kidney beans, and pork and beans. Stir in barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and cooked bacon. Mix well.
  4. Simmer: Simmer over low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thick and bubbly. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve: Serve warm as a hearty side or main dish.

Notes
