For the caramel sauce:

- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- pinch of salt
Optional topping:
- Additional caramel drizzle and chopped pecans
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling in a small bowl.
- Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 10×15-inch rectangle.
- Roll the dough up tightly from the long side and cut into 12 even rolls.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and pour half of the caramel sauce into the bottom.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the rolls cool slightly, then drizzle with the remaining caramel sauce. Top with chopped pecans if desired.
In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
Prepare the caramel sauce by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Stir in heavy cream and a pinch of salt.
Spread the cinnamon-sugar butter evenly over the surface, then sprinkle the chopped apples on top.
Place the rolls on top of the caramel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
