Description

This Antioxidant Blueberry-Lemon Green Tea is a refreshing and healthy beverage packed with the natural benefits of green tea, blueberries, and lemon. It offers a deliciously bright flavor perfect for a revitalizing iced drink that’s rich in antioxidants and low in calories.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 green tea bags

Blueberry Mixture

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Flavor Enhancers

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey or preferred sweetener (optional)

To Serve

  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil Water and Steep Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil in a saucepan, then remove from heat. Add 3 green tea bags and steep for 3–4 minutes to extract the flavors. Remove the tea bags and set the tea aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare Blueberry Mixture: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries with 1 teaspoon of lemon zest. Simmer the mixture over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries burst and release their juices. Mash the blueberries slightly with a spoon to enhance the flavor.
  3. Strain Blueberry Juice: Strain the blueberry mixture through a fine mesh sieve into the cooled green tea, pressing down with a spoon to extract as much juice as possible, discarding the solids.
  4. Add Lemon and Sweetener: Stir in 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of honey or preferred sweetener if you desire added sweetness.
  5. Chill the Tea: Allow the tea to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate until fully chilled.
  6. Serve: Pour the chilled blueberry-lemon green tea over ice cubes. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices if desired for an extra burst of freshness and visual appeal.

Notes

  • For a sparkling twist, replace half of the chilled tea with sparkling water just before serving.
  • You can prepare a larger batch of this tea and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Use a plant-based sweetener to keep the recipe vegan-friendly.
